Assessment Building Blocks

Motor coordination assessment £560

If you are concerned that your child is clumsy, forgetful, always breaking things, disorganised and is struggling with handwriting, ball skills, riding a bike, using a knife and fork and fastening buttons this is the most suitable assessment. It will use standardised assessments to look at your child doing motor activities, it will screen your child for sensory processing disorders and assess your child’s ability to do every day activities.

Fine motor assessment £320

Are you concerned about the way your child is using their hands? Does your child have a diagnosis of hemiplegia? Does your child have poor hand strength? Was your child born with a disability affecting their hands? This assessment will look at all aspects of how you child uses their hands including their ability to use them for recording school work and self-care activities.

Pencil skills/handwriting/typing assessment £320

Is your child struggling to write their own name and draw basic shapes? Do they have difficulty holding a pencil or swap hands? Does your child avoid pencil activities? Are they struggling to keep up recording their work in school? Is their writing difficult to read? This assessment will use standardised and non-standardised assessments to assess your child’s pencil skills and or handwriting. I will also look at their hand function, cognitive and visual perceptual skills.

Developmental Milestones assessment for children under the age of 5 years £320

Are you worried that your child is not sitting yet? Or not playing with other children? Not able to use their hands well in play? Not got the skills they need to start school? This assessment looks at all aspects of your child’s development including, their motor skills, social skills and self-care skills.

Feeding assessment £160

Is your child a picky eater? Or not able to use a knife and fork? I can provide an assessment which looks at all aspects of your child eating and drinking including their physical skills, sensory likes and dislikes and the routines and habits around feeding.

Dressing Assessment £160

This assessment is for your if your child is unable to or is struggling to dress themselves. I will look at the whole dressing process from them being able to select appropriate clothes for the weather and occasion, dressing, fasteners, and undressing.

Toileting assessment £160

Are you struggling with potty training? Is your child able to use the toilet but not able to wipe effectively? Can your child get on and off the toilet? Can they wash their hands after toileting? This assessment will look at all the aspects of toileting including the toilet environment in the regular places your child uses the toilet.

Sleep assessment £160

Are you and your child not sleeping well? Is your child taking a long time to settle to sleep? Are they unable to get comfortable due to a disability? Are they reliant on you to fall asleep to settle them in the night? Is your child sleeping in your bed and you want to help them move into their own bed? This assessment will help you identify the issues that are contributing to your child’s sleep difficulties and provide some advice to address these difficulties and advise on what steps you need to take next.

Sensory processing assessment £560

Are you concerned that your child might have a sensory processing disorder? Does your child dislike touching certain textures? Are they constantly on the go? Is your child sensitive to noise? Do they struggle to concentrate? Do they find new situations difficult? This assessment uses both standardised and non-standardised assessments and observations to determine your child’s sensory challenges and strengths. I will make recommendations based on the assessment of things that you and school can do to make things easier for your child and recommendation for further therapy sessions and or support.

Basic equipment assessment £320

I can provide an assessment for a wide range of children’s and young people’s equipment. My assessment will assess your child’s needs, the environment the equipment is to be used in and the people that will assisting your child in using the equipment.

Complex equipment assessment. £400

I can provide an assessment for a wide range of children’s and young people’s equipment. My assessment will assess your child’s needs including a comprehensive postural assessment, the environments the equipment is to be used in and the people that will assisting your child in using the equipment.

Housing assessment £560

Are you moving house and need advice on suitable housing to meet your child’s need? Are you looking to extend or adapt your current property? Are you unsure what equipment and adaptations are needed to best meet your child’s needs? I will provide a comprehensive assessment of your child, their access and housing needs, the current property and any proposed property and provide clear recommendations on any adaptation and equipment needs your child has. I will liaise with any builders, architects or other professionals you have involved.

Assessment in relation in leisure and play activities £160

Do you want your child to access more leisure activities? Would they like to attend an after-school club, but you are unsure if the club will meet their needs and be inclusive? Are you concerned that your child is spending too long on electronic devices? Does your child struggle with independent play or play with other children? This assessment will take a full play and leisure history, observe your child in play if appropriate, complete a play and leisure questionnaire and make recommendations for play and leisure activities that might be suitable and any further therapy sessions.

Assistive technology assessment £400- £560

Does your child want to be more independent at home? Do you want your child to be able to turn on and off lights, control the TV or, read and listen to music independently? Does your child already use a communication aid or assistive technology, but you wonder if they are making best use of it? I can help provide an assessment of your child current abilities, your child’s goals and look at the best way using technology we can reach their goals.
